Earlier this year, I ordered some vintage stamps for inspiration. I love the detail poured into each one, and the colors are so fun. Plus, it's really amazing how many people, organizations, causes and moments have been commemorated by the United States Post Office!
Which ones are your favorites?
Have you ever wondered what life was like before you existed? Recently, I had the pleasure of peeking through my mother's 1983 day planner. This thoughtful gift was passed along to me by my father, and it allowed me to see what life was like for my parents the year I came into the world.
It also made me consider the fact that my one-day child and grandchildren might not have the same opportunity to peek through my daily life, because there's a very real possibility that the current versions of social media and blogs won't exist 30 years from now. As someone who enjoys remembering the little things, I have yet another reason to keep handwritten journals, print photos, write cards and create photo books and home movies.
As cheesy as it sounds, it's just another reason to preserve history through design.
