One Month To Go...

Only 31 days until Labor Day....

I'm going to state the obvious and say time flies when you're preparing for a baby. I'm sure it has something to do with extra weight and extreme temperatures, but it definitely takes longer to accomplish things these days!

Despite my sluggishness, the nursery is almost finished, we have completed one childbirth class and we are halfway through the other one, and we are steadily checking items off our to-do list. I feel fairly certain he won't come before his due date (I think he's going to take after his mom in this department), but even if he did, we have the necessities all lined up and ready to go -- car seat, clothes, pack n play, crib...only diapers are missing. We want to cloth diaper, but we can't decide if we should start out that way or if we should transition from disposable to cloth after six weeks. Ah, decisions...So many decisions.

This week I'm sharing photos of my adorable husband with his siblings. He was the world's best big brother, and he's going to be such an amazing dad.

P.S. Happy (early) 30th Birthday, Julie (and Gerald too)!

This Guy

I don't think it is possible to love him any more than I do. I'm so glad God brought me from the opposite side of the world to the tiny town of Booneville, Mississippi where we would grow up side by side (I had a crush on him at age 11) before becoming neighbors 11 years later during our first semester at Ole Miss.

A few weeks ago we were in Florence, Alabama for a wedding, and Jonathan showed me around the campus of the University of North Alabama. The year before we connected at Ole Miss, he attended UNA and I was back home at Northeast Mississippi Community College. If he had stayed at UNA or I had stayed at NEMCC for two years instead of one (or gone straight to Ole Miss), we wouldn't have been neighbors. If he had chosen one hundred different paths, we wouldn't have ended up in Oxford that August, but for some reason he chose the path to Harris Grove Condos. He came into my life when I was at my most fragile, and he saved me. Those three years were some of the most fun of our lives, and when we left Oxford, we left together to start a new chapter in Memphis. All those years later, here we are getting ready to become parents.

In some moments we question God and ask why. I asked why a million times that year before Ole Miss. I will wake up every morning for the rest of my life thanking Him for sending Jonathan into my life. He is my heart. I can't wait to see him with our son.

P.S. I'm also really glad he still loves mowing the grass...or in this case, the sidewalk!

Baby Boy

Yesterday marked four months until our due date. Baby boy is kicking hard enough that his daddy can feel him, and we're talking more and more about what life as three (plus two fur babies) will look like. I know one thing -- this little guy is already very much his father's son. In addition to some stubborn tendencies, he seems to love music, and he's very active in the mornings. I suspect he's going to look quite a bit like him as well. Wasn't Jonathan the cutest little boy?
