1960s family memories

There is something about the 1960s that gets me every time. It was a tumultuous decade, but it sure had style. Check out the below photos and see if you don't agree...

Wood paneling. This was taken around 1960, so the 1950s influences were still very noticeable. Love it though!

clovis yates

Today's post began because of the photograph directly below. I absolutely love this picture -- the colors, his expression, his clothes and hat, the fact that he's sitting on a chair on the porch. It is so quintessentially Southern. I'm not sure why he's holding a liquid soap bottle though!

The man in these beautiful photos is Jonathan's great-grandfather Clovis Yates. I've written about him before here and here. Enjoy...

1958 beauty pageant photos

These 1958 beauty pageant photographs of Jonathan's Aunt Linda were too fun not to share. Apparently she was Jumpertown High School's Most Beautiful in 1958. Beauty pageants have never been my thing, but in these photographs, they seem pretty charming.

Isn't she pretty?

School Days...

I'm in the middle of a photo book for Sadie's sister Linda, so I've been scanning and editing all sorts of fun photographs. Linda is the youngest of the Yates' sisters, and she graduated from Jumpertown High School in Jumpertown, Mississippi in 1961. Jumpertown is a small rural community located just outside of Booneville in Prentiss County.

Aren't they cute? Linda is the third from the left on the bottom row.

I love this yearbook photograph all of the girls in front of Jumpertown School. (The back of the photo actually has the job, page and position number on it.)
